The business woman and hydroplane racing enthusiast Émilie Daoust was nominated as the General Manager of the Régates de Valleyfield organization. She will undertake the event planning portion of this major festival in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield and manage the Régates de Beauharnois, among other administrative tasks.
This nomination is the result of a rigorous hiring process, which took place over several weeks. Lead by a selection board formed of three members of the Régates de Valleyfield’s board of directors and two external persons, the committee met with many candidates of choice.
“The organization made a thoughtful decision and we consider that Émilie possesses all the qualities and the experience to lead the Régates in a brand new direction,” explains Didier-Bernard Séguin, president of the board of directors.
A breath of fresh air
The Salaberry-de-Valleyfield resident has led work teams in different local businesses and has great knowledge of the world of hydroplane racing, which she has been following since her childhood. She, furthermore, has singular aims for the event and wishes to take it to another level.
“It is an honour for me to be the first woman at the head of the Régates organization, she mentions. I believe that my business, event planning and feminine acumen will bring a breath of fresh air to the event.”
Émilie Daoust will assume the position starting in September. At her agenda is first to meet with the Régates de Valleyfield team, catch up on the ongoing projects and discuss with the hydroplane drivers. She wants to learn about their needs and build an open relationship with them.
With the cancelling of all races on the Hydroplane Racing League (HRL) calendar for the 2020 season, the Régates de Valleyfield and Beauharnois, along with the HRL, want to come back in full force next year. And it is with Émilie Daoust as the General Manager that they plan to achieve it.
