Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, September 12, 2019. – Just days after finishing the 2019 season, Roger Mahan officially announces his return to the Grand Prix class with his driver; Jimmy King.
A new boat
During the 2018 season, the Hydroplane Racing League had agreed with Roger Mahan that a place in the Grand Prix class would be granted. He had a period of two years to confirm his return.
It was during the Regates de Beauharnois which took place on September 7th and 8th, that the American confirmed his return for the 2020 season. He also announced that it would be a new boat. This new construction will be made by Jamie Auld’s Shop.
Jimmy King driver of the Pleasure Seekers
It was last Monday night the day after the last race of the 2019 season that the Valleyfield winner and the 2019 HRL championship announced his official withdrawal from the GP-777 Steeler team. He will leave the wheel to another driver for the 2020 season.
The relationship of trust between the two Americans: Jimmy King and Roger Mahan, certainly dates back a few years! That’s why it was without hesitation that Jimmy King agreed to take over the driving duties of Roger Mahan’s new boat.
The duo share a common dream, that is to be the team having the most wins at the Regates de Valleyfield. Remember that Bert Henderson and Jean Théorêt currently have the highest number of victories with 5 wins while King has 3 including the one at the last edition of the event.
“The Hydroplane Racing League considers itself lucky to be able to count on the return of the Pleasure Seekers in the Grand Prix class with a new boat,” said Mr. Didier-Bernard Séguin, HRL commissioner.
