Tom Pakradooni Makes a Thrilling Return to Racing with Marc Lecompte by His Side in the JSS-7 Rolling Thunder

After a brief hiatus, the veteran powerboat racer Tom Pakradooni is back where he belongs – behind the wheel of the JSS-7 Rolling Thunder, with long-time friend Marc Lecompte joining him as co-driver for the exhilarating 2024 season.

Having first taken to the waters as a pilot in 1991, Tom Pakradooni briefly stepped back last year to try his hand as a boat owner. However, it didn’t take long for him to realize that his passion lies in driving, not ownership. “After a few races, it became clear that I’m not cut out to be on the sidelines. I was born to drive, and that’s where I’ll stay,” said Pakradooni. This season, he is excited to see how the boat performs, optimistic about its capabilities and ready to make adjustments as needed.

Joining him in this high-speed venture is Marc Lecompte, a skilled driver who has been omnipresent at all Hydroplane Racing League (HRL) events featuring Grand Prix and Hydro classes this season. The pair’s friendship began years ago when Tom commissioned a Grand Prix boat from Claude Bergeron’s shop, where Marc has worked for many years.

As they gear up for the season, communication will be their unique challenge. With Tom being unilingual in English and Marc in French, developing a common language will be crucial. However, both are confident that this will quickly resolve. “It’s about understanding each other on the water, and we’re both committed to making that happen,” Lecompte commented.

The HRL is thrilled to welcome Tom back to the driver seat and anticipates a spectacular season ahead for both racers. The action kicks off in just a few days in Cambridge, promising an electrifying start to the season.
