Ontario duo Norm Woods and Chris Galbrait – Golden Nugget Motorsports –
take the helm of Pro-Hydro Class V-110 Boat

In an exciting development for hydroplane racing, the Ontario-based duo of Norm Woods and Chris Galbraith have officially taken possession of the V-110 boat in the Pro-Hydro class, previously managed by Denis Rousse. This marks a significant step for the pair, who have long aspired to compete in the Grand Prix class, where they have already made their mark as crew members. Establishing a presence in Pro-Hydro, however, opens up new avenues, particularly in securing sponsorships.   The boat will now carry the number V-311, a number that holds special significance as it was used by Norm when competing in the Can-Am series, and be christened “Pure Canadian.” This nod to Norm’s racing heritage, combined with the duo’s ambitions, sets a promising stage for their participation in all four events scheduled by the Hydroplane Racing League (HRL). Chris Galbraith, assuming the role of driver, brings a wealth of experience to the team. His notable success includes clinching top honors two years in a row at the Valleyfield race and being crowned the Canadian National Points Champion in 1990 aboard the Pure Canadian CE-4.   On his side, Norm Woods, a distinguished figure in the world of boating, was inducted into the Canadian Boating Federation Hall of Fame in 2002 and later into the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2011, underscoring his significant contributions and achievements in the sport.   The duo will collaborate with Marty Wolfe on the engine aspects, promising an exciting synergy of talent and expertise. Their entry into the HRL signifies a new chapter in their racing careers, and the hydroplane racing community eagerly anticipates their performance.   As “Pure Canadian” prepares to make waves in the HRL, the racing community extends a warm welcome to Norm Woods and Chris Galbraith, wishing them a successful and thrilling experience. We look forward to your presence in Beauharnois next weekend!
