New Race Format for the H350 Class Starting in 2026
- –
The Hydroplane Racing League (HRL) announces the adoption of a new competition format for the H350 class beginning with the 2026 season.
Â
At each HRL event, the H350 class will now feature two semi-finals prior to the championship final, creating additional opportunities for teams throughout the race weekend.
Â
The format will operate as follows:
Â
- • The boat leading the cumulative weekend points standings will advance directly to the final.
- • Positions 2 through 15 will be divided into two semi-finals of seven boats each.
- • The top three finishers from each semi-final will advance to the final.
- • The final will therefore feature seven boats.
Â
This new structure will allow 15 teams to remain in contention for a place in the final. Previously, a poor qualifying result or a mechanical issue could almost eliminate a team’s chances of reaching the final.
Â
By rewarding consistency while maintaining a high level of competition, this format is designed to deliver an intense and strategic racing spectacle at every event during the 2026 season.
