Lucas Desrochers named official driver of D-Rock Racing Team’s S-104

The D-Rock Racing Team is proud to announce that 16-year-old Lucas Desrochers will be taking the wheel of the S-104 hydroplane for the 2025 season. Owned by his father, Martin Desrochers, the S-104 had been driven since July 2023 by Ben Toupin, whom the team warmly thanks for his professionalism and dedication.

Ben Toupin is not stepping away completely, however. This season, he will serve as a mentor to Lucas, alongside longtime racing enthusiasts and close family friends Marc Lecompte and Marc Lalonde. Their steady guidance and valuable experience will be great assets as Lucas embarks on his first full season.

Lucas has been eagerly awaiting this moment. Though he would have loved to start earlier, he had no prior hydroplane driving experience and had to wait until his 16th birthday to be eligible for official competition. He got his first taste of racing last year at Lake Hopatcong, where he demonstrated poise, confidence, and strong potential.

Excited to kick off the season, Lucas is nonetheless well-equipped to handle the pressure — a skill he developed over years of playing hockey. A pillar both in the arena and on the water, Lucas sees this family adventure as a unique opportunity to push his limits surrounded by the people he loves.

The D-Rock Racing Team also benefits from the unwavering support of Paysagement Desrochers, the family-run business operated by his parents and proud sponsor of the team.

The entire HRL community wishes Lucas the very best for the 2025 season. A promising year lies ahead for this talented young driver!
