Jean-Pierre Guillet acquires a 2.5-Litre Hydroplane with Sixth Sense Racing

The 2.5-litre class will welcome a new competitor in 2025 as Jean-Pierre Guillet officially enters the category. After catching the hydroplane racing bug while assisting the H-666 Charpentek team of Danny Léger in North Tonawanda two years ago, Jean-Pierre is taking the next step by acquiring the former S-38 from the Hydroplane Valleyfield fleet, which was driven last season by Adam Carruthers. His boat will now race under the number S-86.

This addition marks a new milestone for Sixth Sense Racing, expanding its fleet with a fourth boat. The team already has three hydroplanes in the Novice class:

  • N-66 Thunderboat, driven by the 2024 Novice class champion, Mederyk Guillet
  • N-56 Young Storm, driven by Mayka Guillet
  • N-76 Sweethurricane, driven by Éryka Bernier

A Family and Passion-Driven Project

Jean-Pierre Guillet’s involvement in hydroplane racing is, above all, a family affair. For the Guillet family, hydroplane racing is a daily topic: “We start the day talking about racing and end it the same way,” says Jean-Pierre. He doesn’t hide his excitement about joining the competition: “I can’t wait to compete and race this coming May.”

For his first season in the 2.5-litre class, Jean-Pierre Guillet will benefit from the experience and resources of Sixth Sense Racing, along with a Ford engine that belonged to Grant Liddycoat last season.

Meanwhile, Adam Carruthers, the former driver of the S-38, is focusing on building an entirely new hydroplane with the support of his family. His goal is to be ready for the first race of the season in May in Cambridge.
