Francis Côté joins the Hydro 350 Class at the helm of Yellow Torpido H-23

Entrepreneur Francis Côté, a native of Varennes and long-time motorsport enthusiast, is set to fulfill a lifelong dream: making his debut in the Hydro 350 class aboard the Yellow Torpido H-23, formerly known as the H-4 and driven by Erik Allard.

The purchase of the boat was finalized in Sorel in the summer of 2024. Since then, Francis and his team — made up mostly of family members and close friends — have been working tirelessly to be ready for the season opener in Cambridge.A few finishing touches remain, but the boat and its driver will be ready to hit the water.

No stranger to speed,Francis previously competed in superbike motorcycle racing. However, due to his larger build, starting out in a smaller hull proved difficult. Moving directly into the Hydro 350 class becamethe natural choice. He will also benefit from top-tier technical support through a partnership with Primeau Engines, as well as the invaluable presence of Erik Allard, who will act as his spotter throughout the season.

Francis is also quick to acknowledge the help of Yannick Léger, who guided him through the process — from securing a spot in the series to helping him integrate into the hydroplane racing world.

Ultimately, Francis has a clear goal: to develop as a driver, rise through the ranks, and one day compete in the prestigious Grand Prix class.
