Cambridge Classic Power Boat Regatta kicks off the season strong despite logistical challenges

The 2025 HRL season officially launched on May 17 and 18 at the Cambridge Classic Power Boat Regatta. Despite several unforeseen issues, the organizing team delivered a memorable event filled with spectacular performances, tight battles, and exceptional collective resilience.

A logistical challenge masterfully overcome

The livestream team pulled off an impressive feat by providing live coverage of Saturday’s races, even though the broadcast equipment did not make it across the U.S. border in time due to customs complications. Thanks to the quick mobilization of team members who stepped in to help and on-the-ground resourcefulness, fans were still able to enjoy the action remotely. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this technical success.

High-intensity racing… and a spectacular blow over

Saturday’s action kicked off with an impressive blow over by the F-50, driven by young Kenneth Brodie III in the Formula 2500 class. Fortunately, the driver—who had just celebrated his 21st birthday days earlier—walked away with only minor soreness and plenty of emotions. His boat is expected to be ready for the next championship stop in Sorel-Tracy on June 14–15.

Fierce podium battles across all classes

Challenging weather conditions

Wind played a key role in Saturday’s racing, forcing drivers to adjust to more technical and demanding conditions. Unfortunately, Sunday’s races had to be canceled due to high winds and dangerous gusts. The action will resume in Sorel-Tracy—don’t miss it!
