2021 will mark your debut as an HRL driver, what are your expectations for this year?
This may be our first year full time in HRL, but we are not new to the HRL circuit. We competed in 3 HRL events in 2019, winning Valleyfield and Beauharnois and finishing 2nd in Detroit. All we can hope for in 2021 is that we do our best at all of the events making our boat name “Yumpin’ Yiminy” a boat that everyone knows without having to think about it, because we race hard and do well at every event.
We plan to bring alot of exciting Jersey Speed Skiff racing to HRL!
What made you get involved in the world of hydroplanes?
My father raced Jersey Speed Skiffs in the late 1960’s-1974 and crewed for a 280 hydroplane as well. It was always a childhood dream to race Skiffs with my sister Peg at my side.
Racing is a total family thing for our family. At Valleyfield, and hopefully other events, my family will have as many as 6 of our family members in all 3 of our skiffs on the race course all at the same time.
Jersey Speed Skiff Racing is in our family’s blood!
What does your boat name and number mean?
Our boat was named by the boat builders wife Marcie Zbranak. It is a statement/phrase of excitement from the 1970’s that means
“WOW” “HOLY SH*#”!! “We are having tons of fun now”!
That’s exactly what we do with it, HAVE LOTS OF FUN!
