How was your performance in 2018? What were your strong and weak points?
In 2018, I moved from Formula 2500 to Hydro 350. I won Valleyfield and came in second in high points.
What are your goals for the 2019 season?
In 2019, I will be driving a brand new boat in GP class. I want to be consistant and start and finish every race.

“It comes from my mom being upset with Mike [Grendell] for getting me involved with boat racing. She said he was a bad influence”, recalls the pilot.
The first time number 79 went to a hydroplane race, he immediately fell in love. Rapp let himself get carried away by his childhood excitement for boat racing and is now very focused when it comes to his sport. The athlete and his crew prepare everything in advance in order to avoid any surprises. Douglas can then take time to relax, clear his mind and concentrate on his performances.
The sport does not draw as much attention where he comes from and Douglas hopes that he can help it grow and get more people interested: “Being from the USA, hydroplane racing is not as popular, so getting involved in something that is still up-and-coming is very exciting.”
